TRANSPARENT HEART
Project type: INSTALLATION
Date: February, 2022
This installation was born out of introspection. The clear, plastic cover symbolizes a human form attached to a foam head adorned with black spray-painted baby heads. At the center is a red foam sealant shaped heart which protects a person’s true emotions and feelings. The body’s transparency speaks to our own vulnerability to others’ criticisms and judgment. We find ourselves bombarded by others’ opinions to the point that we question who we are. Yet at the center the heart remains true and unscathed. The Transparent Heart is a metaphor for how we perceive others while acknowledging our own authentic, imperfect selves.
