Yes. No. Maybe
Project type: INSTALLATION
Date: September 2023
The inspiration for this installation is weeding dresses. After trying on a multitude of dresses, the bride-to-be has three categories, “Yes, No, Maybe” as represented by the three distinct dresses in the piece. For the young woman, trapped in human trafficking, her options are few. She has no choice but to say “Yes.” Objecting with a “No” could mean punishment. A “Maybe” is the dim hope of freedom. However, the odds of her getting married and selecting her perfect wedding dress are against her. A fairy tale wedding is off limits much like the dress in the middle as it is cordoned off by red yarn. Women in human trafficking are usually not equipt after marrying because of the trauma they go through. The three dresses are all designed differently as one made of majority fluffy yarn and under cloth. The second dress in the red lining box has a mesh and a kind of combination of the mesh of the third dress and the yarn of the first dress. The last dress is meant to be on a bigger scale with more cloth and mesh and added balloons.
