In this generation, social media preys on the mind of young girls, causing a rise in body dysmorphia. In this piece, I made a chest form and two arms out of plaster showing the struggle of binge eating. Social media plays a big role in shaping societal norms, which has a huge impact now on creating eating disorders. As the media also represents a harmful stereotype and horribly affects individuals with eating disorders which makes it more difficult for them to get help and support. The media promotes an unrealistic ideal of perfection that young girls are trying to reach. The words on the plaster body scream the words sentiment. In order to spread awareness, making this piece to show people regarding the unrealistic beauty standards the media brings.
